R Work Group Job Search Workshop Descriptions

 Resume Writing Level I/II - These workshops will provide an overview of the uses of resumes and how to tailor them for specific positions. Participants will be assisted through a group resume writing process to complete their resumes.  


Interview Skills Level I/II - Learn effective interview skills, especially if you are looking for a job in a new industry. Understand how to handle online interviews (more common during COVID-19), and how to determine if the job is the right fit for you based on the interview.


Figuring Out Your Career Path – If you still wonder, what is the best career for me? Where do I find a job that suits me best? Is there a job that I can do and enjoy? Or maybe, you have been in one field for years, and are thinking: “I need a career change, but what will I do?” This workshop will help you gain an idea of your basic interests and how those interests relate to the world of work. Learn what jobs and skills are anticipated to be in greatest demand in the next decade. Consider how to use your strengths to find job satisfaction and possibly discover you have many more career options than you ever thought possible.

Job Search and Social Media Tools - Learn how to use online resources and keep looking for work even during these unprecedented times.  


Conflict Management in the Workplace - Gain confidence and skills in handling conflict with bosses and co-workers, even if you don’t like people. 


Getting a Job by Email (offered approximately every second month) - You will learn the how-to’s of email, including your email name and how to organize a follow-up email system (essential in today’s competitive job market). You need basic computer skills or have email set-up on your phone to participate.


Work and Recovery: Returning to Work after Addictions Treatment (offered approximately every second month) - Where do I start? How do switch my job focus to a safe work environment for me.  Learn about how/if to disclose your addiction, the consequences either way.

  • Use the Job Banks Trend Analysis to explore the job market, research by specific jobs and wages to help find the right job for you.
